I grew up eating all things that could be made with strawberries and rhubarb. However, I have never made anything with rhubarb until tonight. Half of this pan was gone pretty quickly and was enjoyed with fresh whipped cream. We covered at least four food groups: fruit, veggies, grains and dairy. Summer baking with fresh fruit is fun. This bake taught me that it is fun to make a dessert connected to memories of childhood. An apple pie has been requested for Father’s Day. Let’s see that making my first pie crust from scratch has to teach me.
This weeks bakes were sourdough bread, banana bread with or without chocolate chips, and cinnamon or cinnamon raisin. Banana bread with chocolate chips was the most popular bake of the week. I made 36 mini loaves of the banana bread, 15 cinnamon or cinnamon raisin and three loaves of sourdough.
